Carbon Fiber Pneumatic Expanding Shafts With Lugs
Mod. 638 PK
The 638 PK Carbon Fiber Pneumatic Expanding Shaft with Lugs is designed for winding and unwinding rolls mounted on cores, offering an ideal solution for applications that require lightweight construction and efficient handling.
The shaft body is manufactured from highstrength carbon fiber using filament winding technology. An external steel protective casing can also be provided upon request. Compared with conventional shafts, its lightweight design offers several operational advantages:
• Higher operating speeds: Supports faster production and improved productivity.
• Easy handling: Can be handled by a single operator without assistance.
• Simplified installation: Eliminates the need for lifting equipment when inserting the shaft into or removing it from a coil.
The expansion mechanism uses a single rubber tube that expands when supplied with compressed air, pushing the lugs outward to securely grip the core. A dedicated protective system helps extend the tube’s service life by reducing wear and minimizing the risk of damage.
The journal ends are custom-manufactured according to the customer’s drawings to ensure compatibility with specific machinery and operating requirements. For models with side journal diameters greater than 50 mm, an optional quick-change system is available, allowing the rubber tube to be removed and replaced in the event of damage. This feature simplifies maintenance and minimizes repair time and machine downtime.
