Pneumatic Expanding Shafts With Leaves

The 639 PSC Pneumatic Expanding Shaft with Leaves is designed for winding and unwinding rolls, both with and without cores. It is suitable for multi-slit applications, including operations involving very narrow web widths.
The shaft body is available in steel or aluminum, depending on the reel weight and application requirements. The expanding leaves can be manufactured from steel, aluminum, or rubber-coated materials, selected according to the core material and required torque. The journal ends are custom-made from various steel grades to meet specific operational needs.
The expansion mechanism operates through one or more pneumatically activated pistons that mechanically engage the expanding elements, providing secure and reliable gripping. For additional safety, the system can incorporate spring-activated expansion, ensuring that the core remains gripped even if air pressure is lost due to leakage in the machine.
Upon customer request, an automatic web-clamping device can also be integrated to simplify material handling and enable a faster, more convenient winding start.
