Pneumatic Expanding Shafts With Ledges
With Rotating Body
Mod. 641 PR
The 641 PR Pneumatic Expanding Shaft with Ledges and Rotating Body is specifically designed for winding plastic materials that must be handled without stretching or deformation.
The shaft accommodates various core types and multiple-roll configurations. Its main body is available in lightweight alloys or steel, while the expanding elements are generally made of rubber to provide secure gripping and prevent damage to the core.
The journal ends are custom-manufactured from different steel grades to meet specific application requirements. Mounted on roller bearings and interconnected by a through-shaft, the journal ends rotate simultaneously, ensuring synchronized movement and uniform winding throughout the operation.
The expansion mechanism uses inflatable tubes positioned beneath each row of expanding elements. When compressed air is supplied, the tubes apply even pressure to engage the expandors and secure the core. This design provides excellent self-centering performance and reliable core gripping.
Maintenance is simple and efficient, as the inflatable tubes can be replaced without removing the shaft journals. Hexagonal sockets allow the expandors and tubes to be released easily, making replacement quick and minimizing machine downtime.
