The 642 PM Pneumatic Slitter Scorer Expanding Shaft is designed to function as a drive shaft for slitter, scorer, and slitter chuck applications. It provides an expanding alternative to conventional non-expanding drive shafts, offering improved gripping and reliable power transmission.
The shaft body is manufactured exclusively from ground, hard-chromed steel to provide a durable and wear-resistant surface. The expanding ledges are made of rubber to ensure secure gripping, while the journal ends are custom-made from various steel grades to meet specific application requirements.
The expansion mechanism uses inflatable tubes positioned beneath each row of expanding elements. When compressed air is supplied, the tubes apply uniform pressure to engage the expandors, ensuring firm and consistent core gripping.
Maintenance is straightforward, as the inflatable tubes can be replaced without removing the shaft journals. Hexagonal sockets allow the expanding elements and tubes to be released quickly, simplifying replacement and reducing machine downtime.
