Pneumechanical Expanding Shafts With Ledges

With Lateral Movement

Mod. 638 PLA

The 638 PLA Pneumechanical Expanding Shaft with Ledges and Lateral Movement is designed for winding and unwinding rolls mounted on cores. It is also suitable for applications involving reels with widths greater than 500 mm.

The shaft body is available in steel or aluminum, depending on the reel weight and application requirements. The expanding ledges are made of metal with a rubber coating to provide secure core gripping and accommodate different operating conditions. The journal ends are custommade from various steel grades to meet specific application needs.

The expansion mechanism uses spring-driven mechanical actuation. Through a system of inclined planes, the mechanism engages the expanding elements, providing secure gripping and automatic self-centering of the core.

Additionally, the shaft features a manual adjustment knob that allows lateral movement for precise material alignment, even during unwinding operations. This feature helps maintain proper web positioning and improves accuracy throughout the winding and unwinding process.
