The 638 PMK Pneumechanical Expanding Shaft with Lugs is designed for winding and unwinding rolls mounted on cores, providing secure gripping and reliable core positioning.
The shaft body is available in steel or aluminum, depending on the reel weight and application requirements. The expanding lugs can be manufactured from steel or rubber-coated materials, selected according to the core material and required torque. The journal ends are custom-made from various steel grades to suit specific operational needs.
The expansion mechanism uses one or more pneumatically activated pistons that mechanically engage the expanding lugs, ensuring secure core gripping and automatic selfcentering. For enhanced operational safety, the expansion system can also be springactivated, allowing the core to remain securely gripped even if the machine experiences a loss of air pressure due to leakage.
